Jilumol Marriet Thomas - Student Ambassador of SJCC

Jilumol Marriet Thomas, a student from the BA Animation & Graphic Design 2009-2012 batch, has become a source of inspiration by overcoming challenges and achieving notable success. Born without hands, she has excelled as a graphic designer, Mouth and Foot Painting Artist, influencer, and YouTuber. A native of Thodupuzha in Idukki, Jilumol has turned her passion into a profession and currently works as a freelance graphic designer.

Life at SJCC

Jilumol joined SJCC in 2009, where she received unwavering support from the management, teachers, and classmates. Her dedication, hard work, and consistency led to her successful completion of the BA Animation and Graphic Design program. She holds her college in high regard and remembers it with deep gratitude.

Achievements & Awards

Jilumol was the first Asian without both arms to obtain a four-wheeler driving license, which she received in 2023 after a long wait and a court order.

She is a member of the Mouth and Foot Painting Artist Association (MFPA) and actively participates in exhibitions. Surrounded by a positive community, Jilumol continues to move forward, driven by her passion.

She was honoured with the “Best Painter of the Year Award 2021” by the MFPA, the “Youth Icon Award,” and the “Junior Helen Keller Award in Painting.” Indian Currents Magazine featured her as the “Ideal Icon” in 2020. In 2024, she received the “Vanitha Rathna Award” from the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Kerala, and the Kairali Special Award from Padma Shri Mammootty.

Jilumol also starred in a motivational album based on her life, titled “Chiraku,” and began her journey as a dubbing artist in the Malayalam film industry, voicing five characters in the OTT-released film “Three Days.”

Jilumol Mariet Thomas's life is a testament to the power of resilience and determination. Despite being born without hands, she has turned her passion into a successful career, inspiring many along the way. Her journey reflects not just personal triumph but also the impact of a supportive community.
