The MA Print and Electronic Journalism course is a postgraduate programme designed for individuals interested in pursuing a career in journalism, covering both traditional and new media platforms.
The first semester focuses on print journalism, followed by radio journalism in the second semester. TV journalism and new media journalism are covered extensively in the third and fourth semesters, respectively.
The programme explores writing for news, editorials, and features across print, electronic, and new media formats. It also addresses the pre-production, production, and post-production stages of documentaries, interviews, and advertisements.
Students gain in-depth knowledge of journalism's history and development, along with art criticism, visual language, media management, media ethics and law, film appreciation, and new media trends. Practical sessions cover audio and video editing, publication design, creative writing, and web design and management.
The programme culminates in a final project consisting of specialized reporting, including news, features, profiles, interviews, and investigative reports. Internships provide students with industry experience while drafting a dissertation as part of the research methodology prepares them for further academic pursuits.
Students gain practical experience by producing programmes at 90.8 Radio Media Village, a community FM radio station licensed by the central government and owned by the college. They also receive support from the crew members of Media Village Television, a YouTube channel owned and managed by the college. This assistance helps students bring their TV programmes to fruition. The productions are then shared with the public through the YouTube channel, which has over 50,000 followers.
