The Twentieth Anniversary of SJCC marked the launch of new four-year undergraduate programmes in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. As part of a comprehensive syllabus redesign, the undergraduate programmes previously known as BA Visual Arts and BA Audiography & Digital Editing were renamed to BA Interior Architecture & Artistry and BA Sound Design & Visual Editing, respectively.
To enhance the learning experience of the students a full-fledged 7.1 theatre named MV Cinemas was blessed and inaugurated. To mark the beginning of the 20th anniversary of the college SJCC Film Festival was begun.
SJCC in its attempt to go beyond borders launched a new venture viz., MFTI (Media Village Film & Television Institute). It offers online and offline diploma courses in the field of media.
Affiliation was granted for B.Com Finance & Cooperation.
As part of eco-friendly initiatives of the college, a hundred kilowatt solar power project was inaugurated by Mr M. M. Mani, honourable electricity minister of Kerala.
The fisrt edition of Prof. John Sankaramangalam lecture series was held on 11 February 2019.Renowned film director Sri Adoor Gopalakrishnan delivered the lecture on “Cinema as an Art Form“. The Cochin Chapter of the Alumni Association was inaugurated on 4 May 2019. Affiliation was granted
for B. Com Finance & Taxation.
New Foley Recording Studio for Media Village Communications was inaugurated. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of
India honoured 90.8 Radio Media Village with the second prize in Sustainability Category and third prize in Promoting Local Culture category. MVTV
got two Pepper Awards. The Signature film created for Changanassery Fest
won the Gold while Oru Chakka Kadha bagged bronze in the webfilm
category.
Bangalore chapter of the Alumini Association was inaugarated on 08 April. The First principal and the serving Academic Chairman of SJCC Prof. John Sankaramangalam expired on 30 July 2018.
Renowned playback singer Mrs K.S.Chirthra inaugurated the newly built surround mixing studio (Atmos Premix) on 24 October
Prof.Chandramohan Nair was relieved and reappointed as the academic director of the College. Rev. Dr Joseph Parackal was appointed as the Principal. Two new projects are launched, MVTV & MV Studios to impart students in practical learning.
Affiliation was granted to the UG Courses BA Visual Communication, BA Animation & Visual Effects, B A Audiography & Digtal Editing. Radio Media Village has won the National Award from the ministry of Information and Broadcasting for the third consecutive year.
The tenth anniversary of the college was celebrated with the mega event named “Media Sagra” on 13, 14 & 15 January. The presence of celebraties like Sri Rasool Pookutty, Sri Kanai Kunhiraman, Sri Priyadarsan, Sri Dharmendra Jain Narian (Director FTII Pune) added grandeur to the occassion. Radio Media Village was honoured by Govt of India for the second consecutive year with the National Award for sustainability.
Rev. Dr Wilson Kottam was relieved and Prof. Chandramohan Nair was appointed as the Principal. Affiliation was granted to the UG course BA Visual Arts and the PG course MA Print and Electronic Journalism. Advanced Audio Video studio, Digital Library, 2D Lab, 3D Lab and Mini Theatre were established. 90.8 Radio Media Village has received the highest National honour from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for the community oriented projects and programmes.
A Community FM CR Station named 90.8 Radio Media Village was started by the college under the license of Government of India. International firms like RR Donnelly visited the campus for recruitment. Inter collegiate media fest ‘Melange’ was started.

The new hostel for boys in the campus was opened. Affiliation was granted to MA Animation, MA Multimedia and MA Graphic Design.
Audio Video studios were updated. Career orientation programmes were started at the College.
New office and reception was opened and blessed. Media Village “The Great Media Project”was launched by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, former President of India.
Mar Joseph Perumthottam became the Patron of the College. Scholarship for meritorious students was established, SJCC - Cheriathundam Scholarship.
St Joseph College of Communication hosted SJCC International Film Festival at Changanacherry. Placement cell was opened and Media Companies began to visit the campus for recruitment. International educational co-operation projects were launched.
St Joseph College of Communication was formally inaugurated by Sri. Oommen Chandy, Hon. Chief Minister of Kerala on July 2. Affiliation was granted to the first PG course at the college, MA Cinema and Television.
St Joseph College of Communication, affiliated to MG University Kottayam was established in the month of August. Two professional degree courses, BA Animation and Graphic Design and BA Multimedia, were started at the college. Prof. John Sankaramangalam former Director FTII, Pune was appointed as the first Principal.
