St. Joseph’s College of Communication (SJCC) proudly hosted the IIID Visit & Design Matters programme — a collaborative platform designed to bring together design professionals, educators, and students to exchange ideas, share expertise, and explore pathways for future engagement. The event was graced by the IIID Peer Review Team comprising Ar. Mohamed Ikbal (Chairperson), Ar. Chitra Nair (Chairperson Elect), Ar. Ranjith Roy (Hon. Secretary), and Ar. Arjun Rajan. The session commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Mathew Muriankary, followed by an introduction to SJCC and a final project presentation by Ms. Shelbin Elsa Shaji. In her address, Ar. Chitra Nair emphasized the evolving role of IIID in shaping professional design practice, while Ar. Sebastian Joseph shed light on the importance of research and innovation in design education. A lively round table discussion, moderated by Ar. Aswin Ipe Philip, fostered meaningful interaction between students and professionals, encouraging critical thinking and creative dialogue. The peer team, guided by Mr. Saji Lukose, explored SJCC’s state-of-the-art facilities including the Material Library, AI + VR Lab, and Student Work Exhibition, gaining insights into the institution’s hands-on approach to design learning. The programme concluded with a board meeting chaired by Mr. Thomas Joseph T, reaffirming SJCC’s dedication to promoting design excellence, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
