The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of St. Joseph College of Communication launched a kitchen garden project on June 5. The initiative was inaugurated by Madappal ly Block Panchayat President Mr. N. Raju, who lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the occasion. As a part of protecting the environment, 1000 vegetable gardens were inaugurated. Prof. Joseph Tito Neryamparambil, former principal of SB College, delivered a speech on environmental protection during the programme, which began at 2:30 p.m . This was followed by a session led by Sr. Naveena CMC, who raised awareness among the gathering about the need to live in harmony with nature. Later, Mr. Thomas Kundara, Chairman of Madappally Farmers Company, explained the details of the 1000 kitchen garden project. The Environment Day celebrations and the associated projects, including the 1,000 kitchen gardens were launched through a joint initiative led by the Mannarivu Natural Farming Collective, operating under the leadership of the Madappally Agri Farmers Producer Company. The programme was co-organized by St. Joseph College of Communication, Kurishummood, the Kunnanthanam Sankeetham Nature Life Training Center, and the Madappally Block Panchayat. The Principal of SJCC, Dr. Mathew Mu riankary remarked that these initiatives stood out for their spirit of cooperation and were highly beneficial. Later,as part of the Environment Day celebrations, the Media Village Executive Director, Fr.Jophy Puthuparambu planted a sapling.
