The third season of the Students Soccer League (SSL) kicked off on August 12, 2024, with nine teams competing in a four-day event that highlighted the skills and sportsmanship of local student-athletes. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Joseph Parackal, Principal, who raised the SSL flag, symbolizing the league's commitment to fair play and competition. Dr. Mathew Muriankary, Academic Director, officially opened the season with a ceremonial goal kick. Day 1 saw intense matchups, with BA Animation and Visual Effects (AVE) defeating B.Com Corporation 2-0, and Visual Communication securing a 2-1 victory over B.Com Finance and Taxation. On Day 2, B.Com Corporation faced off against Multimedia, while ADE took on MA. B.Com Corporation emerged victorious with a 3-2 score, while ADE secured a 2-1 win. Day 3 featured three pools: Pool A (BA AVE vs Multimedia), Pool B (B.Com Finance and Taxation vs Visual Arts), and Pool C (AGD vs ADE). The winning teams were BA AVE, B.Com Finance and Taxation, and AGD, with scores of 2-1, 5-0, and 3-0, respectively. Four teams advanced to the semi-finals: B.Com Finance and Taxation, BA AVE, AGD, and BA AVE. In the semi-finals, held on August 18, B.Com Finance and Taxation triumphed over BA AVE with a 1-0 score, with Joel (B.Com FT) being named Man of the Match. BA AVE then defeated AGD 2-0, with Nandu Prasad (BA AVE) earning the Man of the Match title. B.Com Finance and Taxation clinched a 3-0 victory over AGD, advancing to the final alongside BA AVE. The final, held on August 19, was a thrilling encounter between B.Com Finance and Taxation and BA AVE. After a fierce contest, BA AVE emerged as champions with a narrow 1-0 win. Awards were given for outstanding performances: Joyees T S was named Best Goalkeeper, Prajeesh Prabhakaran earned the Top Scorer title, Nandu Prasad was recognized as the Best Player, and Bijin won Best Defender. The event concluded with the presentation of the ever-rolling trophy to the champions, BA AVE. Students eagerly await the next season, which promises even more exciting matches and displays of talent.
