The NSS Unit of St. Joseph College, Changanassery, conducted a week-long special camp titled 'Oruma 2023' for second-year NSS volunteers from December 25th to 29th, December, 2023. The camp instilled valuable life lessons and a sense of social responsibility among the participants. The camp formally began with the NSS anthem, followed by inspiring speeches from dignitaries. NSS Programme Officer, Municipal Councillor Smt. Shiny Shaji, MLA Adv. Job Michael, Principal Dr. Joseph Parackal, and Executive Director Fr. Jophy Puthuparampu graced the occasion with their presence and motivated the volunteers. 'Oruma 2023' aimed to foster a sense of unity among the volunteers, cultivate social responsibility, and equip them with a deeper understanding of the NSS's vision and mission. Fieldwork activities focused on environmental cleanliness and beautification projects. Notably, the volunteers transformed an illegal garbage dump near Sacred Heart Church, Chethippuzha, into a beautiful park, demonstrating their dedication to environmental well-being. Throughout the camp, volunteers actively participated in all activities, showcasing excellent coordination and time management skills. 'Oruma 2023' proved to be a resounding success, effectively enhancing the volunteers' social consciousness and sense of duty towards society.
